Handcrafted Beers

At our Kahana location, we handcraft our beer in small 7 barrel batches under the close personal attention of our Master Brewer, Tomas Kerns. Our Brewmaster equates food taste and creativity of accomplished chefs with those of being a brewmaster. "A brewer or chef must balance the science, mechanics, and most importantly, the flavor, to achieve the goal of creating fine food or beer." These inspirations of both Chef and Brewmaster are evident at Maui Brewing Co.

We have recently expanded our production facility with a second location in Lahainatown where we have installed a 25-barrel STI Brewhouse and Cask Brewing Systems automatic canning line.

BIG SWELL IPA
(INDIA PALE ALE)

India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

BIKINI BLONDE LAGER

Our lightest beer, made from 100% malted barley. This blonde lager is what sailors really swam to shore for; it's light, with very little bitterness and a slight malt finish.

COCONUT PORTER

Our Coconut Porter is a classic robust porter spiced with all natural toasted coconut.  It is black in color and crowned with a creamy, dark tan head.   It begins with a malty-toasted coconut aroma followed by a rich, silky feel with tastes of dark malt, chocolate, and hints of coffee.  It then finishes with flavors of  toasted coconut and hoppy spice to balance the finish.

MAUI PALE ALE

Pale in this case refers to a beer which is not dark or black. Our pale ale is an amber/copper color and has a lingering citrus-like hop flavor and bitterness with a toffee-like malt finish.

PENGUIN XX IMPERIAL STOUT

Our version of an Imperial Stout. This is our biggest beer as far as flavor goes. A huge malt flavor balanced with loads of hops and perhaps other exciting spices and ingredients. It's a different experiment every year with a big following, a seasonal made once a year and aged 6 months.

PAU HANA PILSNER

Our Bohemian-style pilsner showcases Czech Saaz hops known world-wide for their smooth, clean, yet spicy bitterness. Balanced with a touch of malt sweetness, it's aged a minimum of six weeks to attain the perfect blend of flavors.

WILD HOG STOUT

Our stout is a rich black ale with a full body and coffee-like, chocolate-like flavors and a semi-dry but creamy finish. Served through a "Nitrogen" tap that helps create a thick, long-lasting head.

MANA WHEAT

Fresh handcrafted Belgian Wheat brewed with organic wheat, malted barley, coriander and fresh Maui Gold pineapple.

DARK KNIGHT LAGER

This dark auburn lager features a robust balance of malt flavors ending with the smooth finish of a traditional dark or "dunkel" "Munich-style" lager.

A fresh, handcrafted Double IPA featuring copious amounts of hops. Laden with hops from beginning to end and not overly bitter, its hop
aromas and flavors give hints of guava, passion fruit, and orange spice which blend well with the silky malt flavors. "Big Braddah to the Big Swell IPA".

HEMP MAN BROWN ALE

An American-style brown ale spiced with hemp seeds, which impart a pleasant nuttiness. This beer is fairly light, but loaded with character. Creamy yet dry finish; soft and slightly spicy.

HONOLUA LAGER

A golden lager, crisp, yet soft, with a noticeable malt-like finish. It's a German "Helles," meaning "light" lager.

MAI BOCK

Our Mai Bock is a strong, golden light amber lager beer. Its rich, smooth malt flavors blend nicely with the light hop flavors. A slight warming finish ends with a tasty malty finish.

'OKAKOPA FEST (OKTOBERFEST)

We celebrate each autumn with our Bavarian-style beer fest. This seasonal goes down fast as the attraction to a rich, smooth, malty lager is truly worldwide--our brewer refers to it as a symphony of malt ending with a clean lager finish.

RED COCK DOPPELBOCK

Doppel meaning double, which means this beer is "double strong." Our name is inspired by the strong, proud "Jungle Fowl" of the islands. A strong, rich dark lager. Noted by intensely rich malt flavors ending with a malty-sweet finish. This beer is traditionally released in March throughout Bavaria, a late winter seasonal. This style of beer is associated with a "Billy Goat" as a trademark and named with a word ending in "-ator."

 

BARRACUDA BITTER

Our version of England's most popular style uses American Crystal and Horizon Hops to accentuate the flavors in this beer from throughout. A deep golden-orange color holds a subtle dry caramel maltiness that gives the beer a foundation and hoppy flavor throughout; a classic session beer.
